LISTED BUILDINGS AND CONSERVATION
A listed building is a building that has been placed on the Statutory List of Buildings of Special Architectural or Historic Interest.

The statutory body maintaining the list in Wales is CADW (The Historic Environment Service of the Welsh Government).

There are three grades of listing:
Grade I buildings are of exceptional interest.
Grade II* buildings are particularly important buildings of more than special interest.
Grade II buildings are of special interest warranting every effort to preserve them. (The majority of listed buildings are Grade II.

Listed Building Consent (LBC) is required if alterations and changes are to be made to a listed building.

As an owner of a listed building you are a custodian, safeguarding it for future generations.
